Atirathram

Kozhikode: Under the leadership of Vedic scholar Acharyasri Rajesh, the Kashyapa Veda Research Foundation will organize Kozhikode’s first-ever Atirathram from April 17 to April 26 at the Kakkodi Veda Maha Mandiram. One of the most significant Śrauta Yajnas, Atirathram is traditionally performed after the Agnishtoma Soma Yaga and includes special night-time rituals, symbolizing the transcendence of night and the re-enactment of cosmic creation. The ritual aims at spiritual upliftment, restoration of nature’s rhythm, and social harmony, and is open to all regardless of caste or gender. The event will also feature an exhibition on India’s Yajna-related contributions to mathematics and astronomy and will be fully documented for research purposes.
